Fence Central contacts 811 to have all public utilities marked before installation. These include electric, internet, and gas. Water is marked only at the main road—not along the fence line.
We are responsible for damage to marked public lines. However, if unmarked water lines are hit during installation, we are not liable, as their locations are not disclosed.
We ask that you mark any private lines on your property, such as:
Private water/sewer
Septic tanks or drain fields
Wells
Private gas lines
We are not responsible for any unmarked private lines. As always, our crews dig carefully and work to avoid any disruptions.
-
We always do our best to avoid damaging underground irrigation lines. However, many builders place irrigation lines and sprinkler heads along the property line—right where the fence needs to be installed. As a result, there are times when we must dig in these areas, and unfortunately, this can lead to breaking a line.
In some cases, the fence may end up sitting directly on top of a sprinkler head, which is beyond our control. If our team notices a broken line or a sprinkler head under or behind the fence, we will notify you. However, it is not always possible to detect line damage during post setting.
Therefore, Fence Central cannot be held responsible—financially or otherwise—for repairs or replacements of irrigation lines or sprinkler heads impacted during fence installation.
