Best Fences for Enjoying the View

Whether you're choosing the best fence for a community park or fencing in your own park-like backyard, sometimes a privacy fence isn't the best fence to fit your needs. Fences are good for more than just privacy. A fence can keep kids and pets in safe areas and keep out unwanted people and animals. If you're considering a fence that will still allow you to enjoy the view outside of your fenced-in area, consider these options: Chain link fences are perhaps the best at blending into their surroundings. Chain link now comes in vinyl-coated colors to blend in with the surrounding area. Choose from green, brown, tan, white, or black. From a distance, it's easy to forget a colored chain link fence is even there due to the large spaces between links, offering an unobstructed view of your surroundings. Aluminum fences add both visibility and curb appeal to your home. Aluminum comes in several colors and styles, allowing you to choose exactly the way your fence looks. Aluminum fences are also great for enclosing a pool area so that the area is protected but swimmers may still see out and enjoy the view. While not as transparent as chain link or aluminum, vinyl is also a solid choice for keeping a view of your surroundings. Shorter picket or ranch rail fences provide a barrier for small children and animals while still allowing easy viewing access to a lake, park, or forest. You don't have to sacrifice a great view to erect the fence you've been dreaming about. A New Fence with Your Tax Refund

Now that your taxes are finished for the year (hopefully) and you're receiving a reasonably large refund (hopefully), it's time to decide what to do next! Saving the money is always a good option, but if you've got some home improvements to do now could be the perfect time. Spring is a great time to construct or repair your home's fence, for example. Spring is good because it's before hurricane season. If your fence is older and needs repair, doing so before hurricane winds and rain hits could help prolong its life. If you want to build a new fence, it's great to get it finished before summer barbecue season.A fence is a smart home improvement because it not only adds visual appeal, safety and security to your home, it also adds resale value when you're ready to sell it. Shorter fences such as vinyl picket and wood ranch rail are great for adding charm to your property. For a fence who's main purpose is to keep kids and pets in the yard, consider an aluminum or chain link fence. If you're looking for the ultimate privacy and security, a wooden or vinyl privacy fence is the way to go.No tax refund this year? No problem, Fence Central offers free quotes. Our testimonials speak for themselves as to the quality and value of the service we provide.

Choosing the Right Pet Friendly Fence

Choosing the right fence for your home is an important decision, especially if you have dogs. Not all pet owners will need a fence, and there are options such as invisible fences that some people prefer, but there are definite cons to invisible fences. Privacy fences, whether wood or vinyl, are often a good choice for dogs, but there are other considerations as well.If your dog is an escape artist, you may consider an especially tall fence (if s/he jumps) and/or a fence that goes deep into the ground (if s/he digs). For dogs that jump, a fence at least 6 feet tall is recommended. If your dog is smaller, best to choose a fence type with not a lot of space between the bars so that it's not possible for him/her to slip between the bars and roam freely. A privacy fence has the added benefit of blocking your dog's view of what's going on outside the fence, reducing the desire to escape and stopping other animals from seeing your dog and potentially provoking him/her. For older privacy fences, especially wooden fences, it's a good idea to periodically check the strength of the fence to make sure that boards can't easily be pushed out by your dog or other animals. If you don't want to enclose your entire yard with a fence or want a double fence barrier, you may also consider a dog run. A dog run is a long, narrower enclosed space that is fenced off inside your yard. A dog run can be a good option for a pet that is especially difficult to contain or spends a lot of time outside. A sturdy roof can protect your dog from the elements while providing a safe space to exercise and be outdoors. For more information about fences that will help protect your pet and add beauty to your home, contact Fence Central for a free quote.

Ways to Protect Your Commercial Property

Whether you own a business or have property in which you store goods, protecting your investment from intruders is a top priority. There are several options to consider when it comes to protecting your commercial property, you may choose one or more than one, depending the size of the property, its location, and what needs protecting. Security cameras come in a wide range of options, from simple to sophisticated and everything in between. Security cameras may deter criminals from entering your property, but they're most useful for recording someone in the act. Of course, that likely means that someone has already broken into your property and stolen your goods. When considering security cameras, choose their placement wisely. A camera will do you no good if it's positioned in such a way that it doesn't catch someone trespassing or stealing. Cost will vary based on how many cameras you want, how high-end they are, and what, if any, electrical rewiring is needed. Security guard s can be hired to patrol your commercial property, providing an active deterrent for criminals. The benefit of a guard is that he or she can randomize patrols, making it more difficult for someone to track where they'll be at any one time. It can be difficult, however, to keep a guard staffed and cost over time can be quite considerable. A guard dog is a less costly form of active deterrent, but dogs come with risks, too. Even the best trained dog may attack someone, leaving you with a lawsuit. A fence is an excellent physical barrier to help keep your commercial property safe. Depending on the type of business or property, a tall fence and/or anti-climb fence can help to deter and delay anyone considering getting onto your property illegally and removing your goods. For more information about fences that can help protect your commercial property, contact Fence Central. We service business all across Central Florida including but not limited to Davenport, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Auburndale, Bartow, Lake Alfred, Polk City, Poinciana, Kissimmee, Lake Wales, and Clermont.

Fences for Athletic Fields

After the long-awaited win by the Chicago Cubs recently, local sports leagues might be inspired to spruce up their athletic fields for the upcoming season. Fences play an important role in the design of an athletic field, whether it be baseball, tennis, or football.Athletic field fences must separate fans from players, so that spectators aren't easily accidentally involved in the game via a fly ball or mis-kicked soccer ball. The fence can't obstruct fan's view of the field, however. For these reasons, chain link fences are the favorite fence for athletic fields. Ideal fence heigh varies, however, depending on sport. Baseball and softball fields are typically enclosed in a 4-6 foot chain link fence. Backstops, especially tall sections of fence, are erected behind home plate to protect spectators from fast-moving balls and thrown bats. Backstops are 25-30 feet tall and may have a top overhang that extends into the field for extra protection. Outfield fences are typically 6-feet tall with rubber tubing along the top. Tennis courts need a taller surrounding fence, as it's easy for a tennis ball to travel high and far. A 10 foot surrounding fence with wind screen is most typical for a tennis court. Spectator bleachers may be placed inside or outside of the court. School football and track areas are often surrounded by 4 foot chain link fences to keep animals from wandering onto the field and discourage people from entering without a ticket. Different gates should be planned to allow for spectators, coaches and players, and lawn maintenance equipment.Chain link fences can be coated in vinyl for additional longevity and visual appeal. Vinyl coating comes in a variety of colors including black, green, brown, white, and tan. Best Fence for Noise Reduction

If you live near a busy street, noisy neighbors, or have an external air condition near your patio, you may be considering a fence that buffers noise. When considering which fences will provide the most sound reduction, it may help to think of a fence like a house. A thick, solid wall in your home is going to block sound better than a wall made of single-pane windows. Open a window, and the noise will be even louder. It's the same with fences. A solid fence will let less sound through than one with slats or holes, and a thick fence will absorb more sound than a thin fence. Wood fences block more sound than other fence types. There are several styles of wooden fences. For the best noise reduction, you'll want one with very little gaps between boards: Stockade over shadowbox. For extreme cases, it is possible to put a quilted fiberglass blanket or layer of sound-absorbing foam on one side of the fence, and then cover with a second layer of wooden boards. This type of treatment may reduce the life of the fence and provides a terrific habitat for carpenter ants and termites. In addition to a standard stockade fence, you may consider planting fast-growing vines or hedges along the fence line. You may notice that fences along the highway have vines growing on them. Check with your local highway engineering departments or urban planning centers to see what type of plants they use. You'll want to use plants that are native to the area you live in. Hedges take longer to grow and area higher initial investment, but are long living and won't reduce the longevity of your fence like vines could.

Best Budget-Friendly Fence

Budget is an important consideration for all home improvements and a fence is no different. A fence provides many short-term and long-term benefits. When considering your budget, of course the dollar amount you want to spend is of primary concern, but you may also consider the value of your investment and how much longevity the fence will give you.Big box home improvement stores will often offer pre-built wooden fences and the prices are likely to be low. There's a reason for that. Pre-built wooden fences are made from young pine, referred to as "rough-cut." Rough cut fences are more likely to rot and warp than fences made from more mature trees. Of course, lumber made from more mature trees has extra cost associated with it.To summarize, pre-built wooden fences are low-investment and low-longevity. In addition to warping and rotting of the wood itself, pre-built fences are usually held together with staples or small nails, which are vulnerable to rust and may even work themselves out of the wood over time. A wooden fence that is made from mature, pressure-treated wood and galvanized nails is a bigger upfront investment but will last much longer. The question to ask yourself is now long you plan on staying in the home and enjoying your fence. If it's more than a couple of years, a custom built wooden fence from Fence Central is a smarter investment than a pre-built wooden fence.Vinyl fences are also an excellent choice for the budget-conscious buyer. Vinyl fences from Fence Central come with a lifetime manufacturer's guarantee that protects against flaking, peeling, and cracking, so you know that your vinyl fence will remain just as beautiful as they day you purchased it and you won't ever have to replace it. Now that's budget friendly! If you live in or around Auburndale, Bartow, Clermont, Davenport, Kissimmee, Lake Alfred, Lakeland, Lake Wales, Poinciana, Polk City, or Winter Haven, contact Fence Central for more information. We'll work with you to stay within your budget and find a fence that you'll love for years to come.

Vinyl Fence Types

A few weeks ago we detailed the types of wooden fences. It's really only fair that we do the same for vinyl. Vinyl fences are a solid choice for several reasons. They're accepted by many HOA committees, they require very little maintenance, and beautifully complement a variety of home styles. Privacy. As the name suggests, a vinyl privacy fence offers you seclusion from the area outside the fence. It effectively separates your piece of land from the ones next to you, providing a physical and visual blocker that keeps pets and kids in and others out. Privacy fences are ideal if you live close to your neighbors and want to extend the livable space of your home without having to worry about prying eyes. Lattice accent. A lattice accent can be added to any privacy fence to soften the appearance and add charm. Shadowbox. Also known as a semi-privacy fence, the shadowbox style provides total privacy from eyes that are looking directly at the fence from the outside at a 90 degree angle, but anyone looking from the side of the fence would be able to see a little of the enclosed yard. The shadowbox's overlaid style is visually charming and adds depth and visual interest to the yard. Vinyl shadowbox fences can be tall, similar to a privacy fence, or shorter, similar to a picket fence. Ranch rail. Vinyl ranch rail fences are often used for ranches, providing a low-maintenance option for penning in domesticated animals over large amounts of land. Ranch rail fences aren't just for farms and ranches, though. With a country-style house a vinyl ranch rail fence is a lovely accent piece. Ranch rail fences range from 3-5 feet tall and feature 2, 3, or 4 horizontal boards or 4 boards with the center 2 boards crossed, creating a cross buck style (pictured here). Picket. The stereotypical ideal home has a white picket fence out front, and it's really no surprise why. White vinyl picket fences add quaintness and charm to a home while providing an area for small children and pets to safely play. Vinyl picket fences come in a variety of styles including straight, domed, and scalloped (pictured here).   Another benefit of vinyl fences is that they can be mixed to suit your needs. In this picture, a privacy fence blocks the homeowner's view of the neighbor's yard while a short picket fence allows clear visual access to the lovely lake view at the back of the property.

When to Consider a Chain Link Fence

Chain link fences don't often get a lot of love. It's true, they don't have the visual charm of a wood, vinyl, or aluminum fence, but they're functional, affordable, and can blend into the right environment, providing security without a lot of visual bulk.Chain link fences are often used to enclose public spaces, such as sports fields. They're also a popular choice for backyards, a way to create a safe environment for pets and children. If you're looking to enclose a large backyard, a chain link is a good choice because it's durable, inexpensive, and requires very little maintenance.Fence Central chain link fences are galvanized after the metal is weaved together. Galvanization deters rust and improves the longevity of the fence. On top of the galvanization, chain link fences can be coated in vinyl. The vinyl coating comes in several colors including black, green, brown, tan, and white. Vinyl coating softens the appearance of the fence and can visually complement the color of your home. Are you considering a chain link fence?
